PTO Remote News

There is no denying that this is probably the most difficult period in most of our lifetimes with still so much uncertainty ahead. We have moments of normalcy, swapped out for feelings of sadness, isolation, maybe even panic. The best thing we can all do is try to remain calm and support our loved ones and extended family members, like our MCS community, during this time.

We, the PTO board, have been working behind the scenes to figure out how we can bring some fun to the MCS community, even from our homes! Please read below about what we have planned and reach out at any time!

Stay safe, everyone!

Upcoming PTO Events

Yes, you read that right!! We are planning to carry out some of our events remotely and we hope you will join in the fun!!

Teacher Appreciation Week –
While scaled back from our normal in-school events, we will still be appreciating our teachers! Please see emails from your room parents for details. If you did not receive an email, reach out to the PTO ! Even our students are getting involved in TAW!! 🙂

  • Mother / Daughter – As you will recall, we had an arts & crafts night planned, which had to be cancelled. However, a modified version will occur mid-May. Click here for details – due to shipping times, any orders for the activity will need to be placed by Tuesday, May 5th!!!
  • Mother / Son Event – While we won’t be able to carry out an AdventureLand type of event (which led the survey), we have devised another event which will get you all up and around having a grand time!! Click here for details!
  • Parents Night Out – We are planning to have a PNO remotely! It’ll be bring your own… well, everything, but we can still have fun! Stay tuned!
  • Field Day – We have some ideas for a scaled down, remote version of the kids’ favorite day. Details will be dependent upon when and how the stay-at-home restrictions are lifted. More to come…
  • MCS Golf Tournament – Several of you have asked about this event. The honest answer is we don’t know yet. This is a large fundraiser for MCS and we know the school could use the funding right now. However, we wouldn’t imagine asking for donations and sponsorships from small businesses. We are examining our possibilities and will share more soon.

PTO Fundraising

We know this is a challenging financial time for many of you, but wanted to share a couple of updates about fundraising –
  • MCS Spirit T-Shirts – We are considering MCS t-shirts to allow us to look fondly back at these times! 🙂
  • MCS Jewelry– We are looking into some extra ways you can show your MCS spirit!
  • Box Tops – This has been easy money for the school in the past and with the physical box tops being phased out, we are seeing a 50% decrease in funding. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE download the app and scan your receipt for qualifying purchases. You can even do your online purchases!!
  • Amazon Smile – Please make sure you are set to MCS for your Amazon purchases.
  • Stop & Shop A+ Rewards – This is still valid, so please make sure to have your card registered today!!

Good News to Share!

Some of you may remember that the MCS greenhouse was destroyed by a storm and left is unusable.

The PTO approved funding to replace it and thanks to the Chris, Addison and Jake Daigle, it is ready for action! We hope it will see some new plantings soon!
