The Monsignor Clarke School PTO Mission

The mission of the Monsignor Clarke School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is to build a sense of community among our families, teachers and staff. Through volunteering and developing opportunities for funding, we strive to address school needs and support enrichment activities in order to provide the best educational experience for our children.

2023 – 2024 PTO Board Members

Kent Dresser

PTO President

Hello, my name is Kent Dresser. My wife Meaghan and I are the parents of Charles Teaken “Teak” (5th) and Finnian “Finn” (1st). This is my fourth year as a part of the MCS community and my 2nd year on the PTO board. Born and raised in South County, (Hendricken ’92 – URI ’96) my career as a maritime expert started as a professional rescue and salvage boat Captain on Narragansett Bay and Block Island Sound when I was in college. After college, I went to ocean-going tugboats based out of New York City until I started my maritime consulting business in 2003. My background is why you will hear many of my friends around campus refer to me by my nickname, “Capt. Kent.” I have a Marine Affairs degree from the University of Rhode Island and am currently enrolled in an MBA/M.A. Philosophy dual program at the University of Mary. We are communicants of Christ the King in Kingston. I’m looking forward to a fun and enriching year for the kids while collaborating with many of MCS’s great families and staff. Thanks for allowing us to be a part of this great community.

Julie Johnson

Serving Past President

Hi! My name is Julie Johnson.  My husband, Shawn and I have one child (Teagan) attending MCS. I grew up in NH, moved down to Rhode Island to attend URI and immediately following my freshmen year, I moved down to South Kingstown and never looked back.  I have been in the biotechnology / pharmaceutical field since 2004 and I love using my spare time to take a break from science and get creative.  This is my third year on the PTO board because I firmly believe that parent involvement directly enriches the MCS experience and being a part of the PTO is a way to show my appreciation for such a wonderful community.

Rebecca Fasula

Parent Ambassador

Hi! My name is Rebecca Fasula.  My husband, Chris and I have two children that attend MCS. I grew up in Rhode Island and simply love our state.  I have been in the education field since graduating from Towson University in Maryland in 2005 with a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education.  Being a part of the PTO is a way to show my appreciation for such a wonderful place to send our children.  I’m looking forward to meeting new families this year and celebrating our community.

Kay O’Neill

Social Chair

Hello, my name is Kay O’Neill.  My husband PJ O’Neill and I are the parents of Lily (Gr 2) and Thomas (Prek 3).  I grew up in Lincoln and graduated from LaSalle in 2003.  After attending college in Maine (Bates), teaching in the Mississippi Delta as part of Teach for America, and living several years in Baltimore, I moved back to Rhode Island in 2021.  We are now living the South County life in Exeter.  We are parishioners at St Bernard Church. I work as a Research Associate at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. This is our third year at MCS and my first year on the board.  I am looking forward to getting to know many more families and planning some fun events to bring the community together!

Monica Mabe

Book Fair Chair / Social Co-Chair

My name is Monica Mabe and my daughter is in 2nd grade; this is her 4th year at MCS.  I grew up in Utah but moved to RI when I was 25 to attend graduate school at URI.  I obtained my doctorate in psychology in 2014 and currently work as a school psychologist in Newport.  My husband is a native Rhode Islander and works as a Mercedes-Benz technician at Inskip of Warwick.  We love the South County life and could not think of a better place to spend the summer (or Fall, Winter, and Spring for that matter).  We love MCS and I am happy to be a part of the PTO for a second year, contributing in any way I can to this wonderful community.

Lisa Stanleun

Fundraising Chair

Hello! My name is Lisa Stanelun and I am happy to be working with the PTO again this year. I have three children,  2nd grade and Kindergarten at MCS and a sassy little 1 year old. Born and raised in Rhode Island and a proud URI graduate, I love what South County has to offer. My husband and I own No Common Cents in Narragansett, which is what drew us to MCS for our schooling needs. We are residents of Warwick, but the experience at the school has been worth the drive. We enjoy outdoor adventures and as many beach trips we can fit over our short Summers. I look forward to this year and meeting new families!

Fundraising Update

Through the years, PTO fundraising has had a transformative impact on the Monsignor Clarke School environment. Your generous contributions have enabled us to establish a state-of-the-art science lab, equip classrooms with Chromebooks, provide Bibles to our middle-school students, enhance security across the campus, and even remodel the elementary bathrooms last year.

Looking ahead, the list of aspirations for this year and beyond is just as ambitious. From installing air conditioning in the library and the gym to adding a new innovation center in the library—every dollar raised serves a crucial purpose.

We pledge to keep you informed about how your contributions are making a difference. Your ideas are the lifeblood of our PTO, so we warmly invite you to share any suggestions you may have for new projects or improvements!
