Monsignor Clarke School is a Catholic diocesan school that serves families from many Catholic parishes across southern Rhode Island. Each day begins and ends in prayer, fostering a school environment rooted in the life of Christ and the teachings of the Church. Mass is celebrated monthly by Father Daniel Mahoney, our Spiritual Coordinator, along with priests from surrounding Catholic parishes who help nourish the spiritual life of our school community.
While the majority of MCS students are Catholic, we joyfully welcome families of all faith traditions. Non-Catholic students participate in the religious life of the school, including daily prayer, religion classes, and school liturgies. Many families choose MCS because they value a school environment that nurtures a strong moral foundation, encourages virtuous living, and promotes the dignity of every human person.
Rooted in the mission of the Church, MCS is dedicated to forming young disciples of Christ and providing daily opportunities for students to encounter Jesus through prayer, the sacraments, religious instruction, and acts of charity. Faith is not only taught but lived. Community service is an essential part of student life, as children participate in school-wide and parish-connected initiatives to support those in need. These experiences foster compassion, character, leadership, and a heart for service shaped by the Gospel.
Sacramental Preparation
While MCS provides a strong foundation in Catholic faith and values, sacramental preparation—such as for First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation—is coordinated through each family’s home parish. As MCS is not a parish-based school, students in a sacramental year are expected to enroll in their parish’s faith formation program to receive the appropriate preparation for the sacraments.
