Monsignor Clarke School provides an enriched environment for children designed to benefit their social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. Our class sizes allow for each student to reach their potential. Our eighth graders are well prepared to meet the challenges of high school. The majority of our students are placed into an honors level high school curriculum.
Curriculum at MCS is informed by the Common Core Standards and Catholic School standards and benchmarks for language arts, mathematics, social studies and science. Our math program progresses from early childhood standards-based fundamentals taught in Pre-Kindergarten and provides a pathway to algebra in grade 8.
At MCS, students learn and are assessed through individual and group projects, tests, quizzes, oral and multi-media presentations including PowerPoint™, Prezi™, Glogster™, Microsoft Publisher™, iMovie™, and so on. Their educational experience is enriched through field trips, community service activities and guest presentations.
Students in grades Pre-K through grade 5 have a library class weekly. Middle school students enjoy rich classroom libraries for their individual reading. Learning to read and, later, reading to learn are important values across all of the core subjects.
